The recent studies explore the world of sports, where men are dominating the women. According to International Olympic Committee, there are approximately 44% women competed in the Olympics and won more medals than men in United States, however women gets paid smaller than men no matter the sport. For instance, tennis, one of the major sports around the world and the sport that is known for gender equality, still has a huge pay gap between the men singles champion and the women singles champion. Last year Roger Federer and Serena Williams won the singles title and defended their titles at the Western and Southern Open in August. Now, with the global gender pay gap increasing, even female doctors battle with equal pay. In the present study of the World Economic Forum, it will take decades to close the gap unless changed or reshaped. Consumers and the media can persuasively change the path of total inequality in salary between men and women by showing women deserves to be treated equally. In sports, the reason why professional men earn more than woman even when the host is a Non-profit organization is because in general, people around the world are more interested in watching men play. The producers invest more money in men sports because the revenue earned is much higher than investing in women’s tournament. Discrimination lies to our subconscious, the past also has an impact to why there is a pay gap. Before, women would only work as nurse, teacher, domestic housewives, and a calculator. And men as doctors, engineers, or even scientists, in which they earn more salary. However, since equality is booming with the rapid social transition, men and women are supposedly equal in many ways, but in the end, the economic standards couldn’t follow.
