The organization pertains to the issue regarding the difficulty of reporting an abuser due to situation of the female or child. They have two, easily accessible shelters located in the waterloo region, Anselma house and haven house that provide space for women including a mother with children of any sex under the age of 18 (women Crisis services 2014). In the shelters, victims are guided on the right path in order to overcome their dilemma. The shelters give the victims guidance in order for them to take the right precautions and contact the police. This is important since most crime that come to the attention of the police are reported in the first instant by the public, however crimes like woman and child abuse could easily go unreported. Data collected in Canada by the victimization survey show that many victims feel intimidated by those who have offended them; they feel that reporting the incident to the police could jeopardize their personal safety. Research has also found that, women who have experienced abuse at home would like to be removed from the household but not necessarily have the offender arrested. This is especially the case for women in an intimate relationship with their abuser or financially dependent on them (Dobash and Dobash, 2003).
