The organization that obtained my attention is Women’s Media Center aka WMC. This organization is a fantastic group of people who investigate about women 's sexual assault. Experiences of rape, torture, and murder are some of the few examples of social grievances. Why do women have to go through all the pain. In These experiences affect everyone directly or indirectly. It is important for these experiences to be accepted as public suffering. During this phase is normally when protests and activist groups are made, and they publicly express their minds and experiences to the public. When the experiences of the victims are not accepted they are often dismissed or ignored by society. Many people who don’t understand these experiences fully are often the first to blame the victim. During this phase politicians sometimes try to discredit victims through the usage of expressing their own corrupt ideas about the victims. They sometimes call women derogatory names like “public women”, which often refers to a woman as a prostitute or other terms that are used in the attempt to take away power from women (116 Pineda-Madrid). The fourth factor is about the overall coverage of the violence. This comes in a form of the media or storytelling about individual experiences. The media basically summarizes the problem. News reports about the horrific events in Juarez are briefly mentioned to the point that it doesn’t give the issue any justice. The media also reports these events in a way where it can be easier for society to digest (20 Pineda-Madrid). Graphic pictures or examples are hardly shown due to censorship. Although, mutilated bodies and personal testimonies about an individual’s experiences of rape would be very powerful and would most likely get the support of the
