Women: The Objectification Of Women

Decades before the children from the current generation was born, women were treated as objects rather than equals. Even though the times have changed and women have more rights than ever before, women are more often than not still objectified and not treated to the same respect as a man. The way women are treated are not as blatantly outright as it would 80 or even 30 years ago, society has learned to make it more subtle and not as flagrant. For example, when a guy says something like "what are you on your period?"; "get back into the kitchen.",or even: "you throw like a girl.', these phrases that seem to be used so often is a subtle way of objectifying a women as useless and not as great as a man. Phrases like these are often introduced when a child is young and impressionable, which leads to the belief that women are lesser to be institutionalized. Another example would be how a women could have the same credentials as the male employee and still be overlooked just because being a women meant that you weren't as qualified. This was actually proven in a study where scientists sent in two resumes with the same exact information on it, but the only difference was the name, John and Jennifer. The only one to get the job was John, Jennifer was completely overlooked, even with the same information.
