How Does Social Media Affect Our Society

I am young woman, student and child of god that is just “trying to make it in life”. Our world is changing faster than we have ever seen before. There is new technology, new trends and new leaders. Human race is amazingly getting stronger and stronger, yet our morals are going in the opposite direction. In our heads we are all so worried about “What picture should I put on social media?”, “I have to get the newest iPhone.” And the biggest most terrifying question that has aroused “Why would you vote for her/him?”

New trends these days such as creating groups for what you believe in such as Black Lives Matter, support of a certain politician or even the support of feminism. Movements and opinions are things in society that are “human”. We are taught to think what we want to think and believe what we want to belief. Every human being is subject to their own personal opinions and for other Americans to be criticizing, beating, and causing any sort of violence is morally wrong is every way. We watch videos of humans just like ourselves getting beat to the ground for saying “Women should be treated equal.”, “Black lives matter.”, or simply saying “Make America great again.”

As the oblivious American society continues to watch and share these videos, others are fuming with anger. Black Lives Matter is a serious issue. Imagine walking into a store late at night and being watched very closely because people just suspect you are going to steal something. Blacks are viewed as hood and violent. Imagine if all blacks were treated equally. Do you think LeBron James or Michael Jordan are suspected for acts of violence or stealing something? What makes them different, the fact that they can dribble down a court and shoot a ball into a hoop and make no difference in the “goodness” of society. Black lives matter, all lives
