It is ever so apparent throughout the short story Eve’s Diary in-which men and women are different from each other mentally, physically, and emotionally. Before I divulge further; it is important to make note that “Eve’s Diary” was published early in the 19 century, more specifically; 1906 a time where men were considered far more superior than their female counterparts. Mark Twain (Author of Eves Diary) portrays this previous issue by displaying Adam and Eve with stereotypical deportment throughout the text. Women were considered inferior to men; Mark Twain depicts women equal and in some parts superior to men to represent relationships.
Adam and Eve share a quite unique relationship, in terms of their emotions and what they think about each other. It is important to note that Eve and

Women for a long time were known as the “second sex” but Eve shows that she is capable of doing anything. It is fascinating the way Eve is characterized, she is a stereotypical female but also a dominant figure in some situations; Eve takes pride and joy in naming things and her advanced precise command of the English language. Eve stablished gender; what a man is and what a woman is, she even

American history is filled with such rich pieces of history that still relate to the present. Many do not think about how the past still has an effect on what is happening today. For example, race and gender are important factors that shaped American history, and also there are still, issues with gender and race today. Gail Bederman writes a well organized book titled, “Manliness and Civilization” about the history of gender and race in the United States between 1880 -1917. Gail Bederman is one who sees manhood and womanhood equally related.…

Adam immediately put the blame on Eve, not taking into consideration how Eve would feel with that burden. Not only that, Adam neglected to comfort Eve when she was scared too. Eve said in the narrative, “We were supposed to be one, yet I felt so alone and detached.” I chose key words like “alone” and “detached” to represent Eve’s depression that stemmed from Adam’s blame. Once you learn that the person who was supposed to be your “backbone and ribs” throughout your lifetime is not a man of their word, the world can turn really cold and scary.…

Gender inequality is an issue that has been happening for thousands of years, affecting cultures from all around the world. Women have endured since ancient times the title as the inferior being, the “other” gender besides the man, the weaker and less valuable specimen. This gender inequality created a huge difference between men and women, placing women’s rights under men’s jurisdiction, which dictated what women were and were not allowed to do. This issue was analyzed by the French and feminist supporter and writer Simone de Beauvoir in her text, “Woman as Other.” In her essay de Beauvoir explains the entire concept of women being considered the “other” gender apart from the men.…

Adam is not her superior because of his masculinity, but because according to the Bible and Paradise Lost he was the first human and he had already lived a lifetime of experiences before Eve was created. Eve’s inferiority is often inaccurately considered a result of her gender. This misplaced assumption has thereby contributed to the gender roles that plague many of today 's relationships. The Bible initially presents Adam and Eve as equals. In Genesis, Eve was cursed with female inferiority as a result of the fall.…

Men and women are both human, who cares if women have more emotions and men are viewed as being burlier, at the end of the day it takes both men and women to survive this tragic thing called life. In the short stories “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” by Ernest Hemingway and “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman we see men and women interacting with each other as relationship partners or marital partners.…

Eve and Pandora share the role of “The First Woman.” Likewise, they are both depicted as giving in to temptation, thus bringing suffering into the world. However, these two figures have stark contrasts between one another that reveal the views of their respective cultures’ towards women, god, and the world around them. I will begin by comparing major elements of both story. In Genesis, Eve is personally created by God, and born from Adam’s rib.…

Women have had a long history of being inferior to men. The inequality of genders can be traced all the way back to Greek mythology. Both Hesiod’s Theogony and Homer’s Odyssey demonstrate the Greek’s early thoughts on this issue. Homer and Hesiod would agree that women are deplorable creatures and marriage usually leads to suffering.…

so to add what wants In female sex, the more to draw his love, And render me more equal… (Milton 817-823) Eve is imagining a way for her and Adam to be equals. As she has now eaten of the fruit, she believes she has ascended a level and is now on par with God. This is a clear indication that Eve feels she is not equal to Adam because of her sex. Adam himself ends Book IX by stating men cannot trust women, and if they trust them, they should be ready to face the consequences: “Thus it shall befall Him who to worth in women overtrusting Lets her will rule; restraint she will not brook, And left to herself, if evil thence ensue,…

We must understand that women were viewed as a burden. Throughout the epic poem, we see that Eve demonstrated independence. When she told Adam to go a different path, “Let us divide our labours, thou where choice/Leads thee, or where most needs, whether to wind” (IX.214-215). Eve is demonstrating that she is assertive and is in control. The need to be independent played a major role in her…

In Paradise Lost Book 9 Milton deliberately imposes his own views on women to his readers with his own portrayal of Eve. Milton 's poem extols that Eve 's positive traits are her beauty, submissiveness, her softness, sweetness and her so called inadequacy to man (Adam). Yet when Eve sets out to be more independent, seek out her own knowledgeable, and become more than just a part of a pair she brings about the fall of man. All of this comes from Milton; he simply follows the thought of his time as to the role of women in society in the seventeenth century. Eve has as many important responsibilities as Adam, but in the hierarchy of the universe, she falls below him.…

The rise of public fear and domestic fear was the result of a huge backlash both social and economical for women. The fall of man is a very confusing concept to me. I never understood how Adam and Eve could have sinned like they did after being so close to God, after walking and talking with Him directly. I always told myself “If I had been Adam or Eve, there is no way I would have disobeyed God after being so closely united to Him”. But then I think “So why do I keep sinning after every time I receive the Eucharist?…
