2. Faust showed me the insight into the values and struggles that women faced during the Civil War.
a. The women were developing their own roles in society, encouraging one another to take part in the fight.
i. Using letters, newspaper clippings and the women’s diaries, Faust was able to bring me to that time period and to go through the struggles with the women. Faust was able to transport me to the time of the Civil War and show me how the lives of southern women changed. ii. No longer dependent on their husbands, women like, Lucy Wood and Abagail Adams that had insight of the political issues on the home front. Faust showed their knowledge through the letters sent to their husband and fiancé.
b. Faust showed the societal shift of women’s roles and how religion played such a part in their lives. Women no longer were relying on their spouses, they started to become independent.
