According to the article “GENDER PAY GAP: RECENT TRENDS AND EXPLANATIONS” (2016) women’s labor participation and education opportunities have increased greatly since the 1950’s. The article contained information saying that policies such as the Lilly Ledbetter Act have prevented organizations from discriminating against women in the workforce which has helped women tremendously. Women more than they did in the past have been able to engage themselves in the workforce by working efficiently and effectively and proving that they can work just as hard or better than men can in the workforce. However, women are still not making as much as men in the workforce and statistics prove it. Evidence from statistical research has shown that women in the United States of America and other parts of the world are not being compensated for their work as men are even though they share many of the same educational and work experiences in their lifetimes. Therefore, it can be concluded from statistical facts that there is a workforce discrimination problem that is not being addressed as much as it should be. Men and women are created equal just as people from other cultures are, and men and women should be paid the same and allowed the same job opportunities that their fellow male counterparts are.
