Petruchio wants to “tame” Katherine into becoming the “perfect” woman. He states “This is a way to kill a wife with kindness, And thus I’ll curb her mad and headstrong humor.” Petruchio is saying that by depriving her of food and sleep, and saying that it is out of love, he will eventually tame her and make her into the “impeccable” wife she was meant to be. Meanwhile in 10 Things I Hate About You, Patrick is very nice to Kat and tries to get her to fall in love with him because he is being paid by Joey Donner who is trying desperately to date Bianca. In the beginning of the story, Patrick is dating her for the money, but as time goes on, he starts to care for her and he falls in love with her .
