When we think of ancient Greece, what comes to mind is an array of stunning architecture, ______ monuments, and __________. While these are all fascinating _____ to explore, these can only tell us so much about the life that the Greeks lived at the time. One medium that gives us a more personal look into Greek life is art and pottery. There has been substantial evolution throughout the course of history/time, but whether the art showed historical accounts (such as _________) or mythological ones (such as _________), there were evident themes/patterns that give us a look at what the Greek ideals were. The drawing is intended to display both sides of the same pot, showing the scope of women in traditional pottery art. On the left, there is an image of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war (among many other things) in ___________. To the _____, there is an Amazonian warrior, a group of women from Greek mythology who ________. While there is a man shown, he is not the focus, hence the shield concealing his face. It is not intended to be a cowardly stance, but to show his lack of importance in this particular project. The Amazon is _____. On page 2 (or the right side of the image), there is what I am describing as a mortal woman surrounded by ____ servants. This was a fairly common image (iconography) at the time, and it demonstrates the more “typical” roles that women had. There are filler designs around the neck, foot, and where the handles are attached. This was typical for this type of pot at the time.
