In the beginning of the course I want to study about women empowerment. When I read the transformative learning, I really see that as a tool for changing the society in a good way. I think that transformative learning can be the solution for the some misconcepts about gender issues as well. Then I realize that I can combine transformative learning and women empowerment issues, I can write about the women’s transformative learning paths. I decided to write about transformative learning for women. Today, the issues about women is still unsolved and in the 21. Century it is sad story. Transformation is a common topic of interest in a number of disciplines like transpersonal psychology, consciousness studies, religious studies etc.(Hoggan,2015). However as a learning subject, it is very important for adult education. In adult education area, in generally, they used other discipline’s like philosophy, psychology, sociology theories and combine them into the adult education topic. However Mezirow’s work provided a detailed theoretical foundation unparalleled in our field to explain and justify his theory. It comes from one of the adult education academician which is rare occurrence.(Hoggan,2015). In mid 1970’s the women’s liberation movement had been in the media. It also opens a discussion of feminism. “The Search for Wonder Woman An Autoethnography of Feminist Identity” article, writer writes about her own transformational learning about feminism. When she struggle about the feminist theory, one day one of her friends call her a “Wonder Women”. This cartoon character become her inspiration and she find out her understanding of feminism. She realize that she is really a todays Wonder Women. She is in academia which is a world of mostly men and she said “I am a social worker like Wonder Woman, I was and am committed to social justice for all.” (Averett,2009). All her change can be seen in the article which is a very surprising way of seeing transformative learning. In conclusion she explain that “through her commitment to social justice and fighting for what is right, balanced with her ability to care for others and nurture them in their goals, Wonder Woman demonstrates the soul of social work.” (Averett,2009). So, in non-governmental organizations and social works can change women and start their transformational learning but in this case the start point is very personal. For this reason we should not assume that the organizations make this change for all
