Women and their Inner Virtues
Mary Wollstonecraft was born on 27th of April 1759, born into a family whose father was alcoholic and a gambler that left her and her sister to support themselves. Wollstonecraft became a governess, teacher, and a writer. She championed women’s right and was considered as a reputable very forward-looking feminist. Wollstonecraft had a daughter out of wedlock whose name is Fanny Imlay and later on got married to William Godwin, a popular British philosopher and sadly died giving birth to her daughter Mary Shelley the author of the book “Frankenstein”. She published several books which are “A Vindication of the Rights of Men, which was published in 1970, followed by another book “A Vindication of the Rights of Women, published in 1972, and the book “Of the Pernicious Effects Which Arise from the Unnatural Distinctions Established in Society”.

In other words women are so dependent to their husband that they developed attitude such as being mean, deceitful, and selfish. At some point in our lives we get really frustrated when we are so dependent to someone with all our needs that we develop negative attitudes just like what Wollstonecraft is describing. Furthermore, in the last paragraph of her book she described what a women of virtue or a women in a family with a husband should be treated without some type of chain that should not be enslaved to what her husband’s opinions or decisions rather have the freedom of words and rational fellowship and in return men would find woman more observant, caring, affectionate, and would love their man with true love and affection if a women also learn how to respect themselves (para 34, p.
