Gendered Bathroom Controversy

In 2016, President Barack Obama passed a law allowing men and women to use the gendered bathroom that they identify as. With high praise brings astringent setbacks and many flaws, which weren’t seen, in hindsight. Due to Obama’s new law, there has been a gender identification epidemic circulating not only the Internet, but also the world around us. One side exclaiming, saying there are more than two genders (male and female), and the ladder saying there are only two. This epidemic has created an oncoming storm of controversy and pandemonium, leading to outraged groups fighting each other instead of just uniting as one to create a peaceful society. But, through science and the natural human genetic make up, it has been proven even way before …show more content…
And usually, all of this stems from the LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community, a very outspoken community elevating awareness of sexuality and different genders such as Gender-Fluid and Cisgendered people. But most of the time, these groups of people become a little in over their heads and forget basic human anatomy, unless you are a hermaphrodite, you either possess male, or female genitals making you one or the other. It’s admirable to see people raising awareness, but some of the stuff brought up doesn’t need to exist in the first place.
It shouldn’t be so hard to say, “I have the male genitals, therefore I’m a guy,” or,” I have the female genitals, therefore I’m a girl.” It becomes redundant to yourself, and to everyone around you because you become what is commonly known today is “Triggered” because your gender is assumed. If you have the boy parts and you know it and someone calls you a guy, just accept it. The same can be said about the female and their genitals. You need to accept it and if they accidentally assume wrong, just calmly say what you are. There doesn’t need to be this major crisis and hyperactive on going dilemma about

The only way to create another gender is to use some sort of gene splice experimentation and create your own gender. Whether you want to know it or not, people either have a homogametic (XX) chromosome meaning you’re a girl, or a heterogametic (XY) chromosome meaning you’re a guy. There is no identifying as a plant, there is no gender fluid, its either you’re a guy or

While recognition and acceptance of non-binary genders is the right way forward, more needs to be done. Ideally, the rules and boundaries of gender need to be loosened; the idyllic portrayal of what a man and woman are stripped away. A society that operates on newborn babies to mold them into a two gender system and uses language as a means of keeping the two genders distant, is both ignoring the millions of people who do not fit into the system and actively fighting against biology which tells us that the genders are not so different. A person who does not fit their gender should not have to choose between the gender they were assigned and the gender they were not. The spectrum of gender is not a venn diagram with distinct boundaries, but rather a boundaryless space for individuals to determine who they are for…

Rhetorical Analysis of an Argument Imagine a world where your gender defines who you are and who exactly you could become. Stereotypes about gender could be as simple as a person born male would become a construction worker or police officer and a person born female would become a school teacher or hair dresser. People are to fit into their gender stereotypes, and that was that. But, it is not the 1950s anymore.…

Along with this, Roughgarden (2004) mentions in her book the sexual differences every person has.…

Race, Class, Gender, and Oppression have been international issues for generations, from the Civil War in the 19th century to the Holocaust in the 1940s, and the comments of Donald Trump in 2016. All of these issues affect each of us differently, but we can all agree that there is still much progress to be made in ensuring that every human being is treated equally. However, we cannot truly understand why an individual feels the way they do about any of these issues until we know the background and history behind those feelings, and my own background is no exception. I did not give much thought to my biological sex during childhood. My first major reminder that I was a biological female was when I started puberty around age twelve.…

The gender-separate bathrooms stand as a symbol as a not-as-equal-as-it-should-be nation, and emphasis on “a space in which the dominant binary conceptualization of gender is made more concrete than perhaps anywhere else in society” (Kopas). Strangely enough, gender-separation is not a topic broached as one of gender injustice, but purely as a trans* and gender nonconforming issue. Part of this is because cisgender men and cisgender women do not face the fear, harassment, and violence that trans*, and gender nonconforming do on daily basis. It’s both fascinating and troubling that it took the amount of time, struggle, from the LBGTQIA community to bring bathroom gender-separation to the front. Strangely enough, gender-separation is not a topic broached as one of gender injustice, but purely as a trans* and gender nonconforming issue.…

With the passing of years, the spreading of gender equality has become a hot topic which most of the world’ countries had to face with. Nowadays the majority of countries, also through the influence of Millennials who consider gender only as a spectrum, begin to recognize different genders and their related unions. As regards gender, California can be considered one of the first countries in the US which is highly taking into consideration this topic and is moving towards a new social solution which might overcome many problems: the introduction of Gender X. Gender X would be a brand new “Nonbinary” option which would include all those individuals which are “intersex” and do not consider themselves neither male nor female. Examples of Gender X already exist. In fact, last June Oregon’s Transportation Commission agreed to issue, for the first time, a “Nonbinary” driver license.…

Already trying to enforce the idea that there are only two genders the moment they take their first breath. Over time, the general understanding of the distinction between sex and gender has ceased to exist. It is now most common for them to be known with a combined definition instead of coinciding. Despite the false descriptions, those topics are recently playing a major role in the self-defining aspect of our human lives today. Across the nation, people are beginning to be more open and expressive about the gender that have decided to be, despite their sexual orientation. This is a major step for social acceptance and personal expression in our American culture.…

According to the textbook, “Human Sexuality,” by Sayad and Yarber, mass media helps to shape views on sexuality. The depiction of sexuality in media helps viewers create their own understanding of sexuality, but it can be very narrow because it can be argued that there is a lack of representation of other sexualities. Television is claimed to be where adolescents gain most of their knowledge of sexuality. However, it does not portray sexuality in reality, but presents various stereotypes and unequal gender roles (8). Another example of stereotypes within media can be found in video games.…

Gender Gender has always been depicted and generalized as a binary separation of opposing sexes. While gender is defined at birth, what happens when we don’t fall into the traditional concepts of gender? Gender identity vs. biological sex should be two separate concepts while we seem to group them into one. Gender identity allows for personal depiction of one’s self, formed thorough your family, peers, and social groups. Identity shouldn’t be defined by biological sex, but by who a person chooses to be and accepted for the diversity that lies within gender.…
