So, what was it that really sparked Wolfs creativity? Was it his illness? His life experiences? His connection to the poems of Morike? (need to add info about this- read the book on poetry) His drive to make a mark on the world before he died? Trying to live up to his father's expectations and be successful at his chosen profession? Were his bursts of creativity a result of a single one of these things or all of them combined? Did he just need to wait for the right timing to become the mature composer he ended up being?

To be creative is to make something new, innovative, or original. Creativity can be combinational, (“involves the generation of unfamiliar combinations of familiar ideas”), exploratory (“the existing stylistic rules or conventions are used to generate novel structures (ideas or artifacts), whose possibility may or may not have been realized before the exploration took place. To the extent that it was not, the new structure will be not only satisfying but surprising.”) or transformational (“leads to “impossibilist” surprise, wherein the novel idea appears to be not merely new, not even merely strange, but impossible.”) or a combination of the three (Neuroscience of creativity). It can also depend on the number of product and whether the item is useful or not. Many ‘creative’ people exhibit divergent thinking and nonconformist attitudes. Creativity often manifests itself in different ways depending on the discipline you're looking at. The arts are often the first thing many people think of when speaking of creativity, that is art, music, theater, literature but science, math and medicine also require creativity to solve problems or give a diagnosis. Creativity in those fields is often based the innovative use of previous knowledge rather than the strict invention something new which many think of regarding painting, or writing music and poetry. Music composition has elements of both because all composers should have some basis of knowledge before they can do anything new with it. A clear definition of creativity is: something that is original, useful and, depending on the situation, quantity may be considered as well. For some it may be easy to look at their lives and determine whether they were creative or not but how does one obtain creativity? Is it a skill that can be learned or a characteristic that is ingrained in the lucky few? Psychological studies have

When we consider the intertextual connections between texts through an exploration of the characters we come to realize the significance of a composers ‘purpose and text’ An individual’s perception of their value is based on the circumstances they are situated within. Different contexts lead to different values being explored. Supporting this statement Both Orwell and Lang’s works both successfully present the imminent dangers of the contemporary and social and political world to which they are surrounded in. Metropolis and 1984 both ominously represent the mechanisms of power in institutions that practice socio-political supremacy and tyranny.…

Sublime Nature during the Romantic Period Both Mary Shelley and William Wordsworth incorporated sublime nature and nature itself in their writings of Frankenstein, and Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey, On Revisiting the Banks of the Wye During a Tour. While both speakers in Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey, and Frankenstein could have looked for love and happiness in a person they found it in nature because of the way the two polar opposites together made the speakers feel. Many authors during the Romantic period wrote about a concept that pointed out the feeling we get when we come across something in nature that has a mixture of beauty and terror. In other words, the sublime.…

Prior to completing ENGL 2200, I had many misconceptions. I believed creativity to simply turn a new and innovative idea into reality and in order to be creative as well as imaginative you must act on the ideas you develop. I learned that creativity is so much more in addition to being the foundation for developing newer technology, literature, artwork, and so much more in life. I also believed imagination to be a personal thing and what stimulates thoughts for myself may not be the same thing that stimulates thoughts for others. I am the type of person who when faced with a problem that needs a solution, I generate ideas with fluency and flexibility.…

Tidd et al (2005, P.3) states that “innovation is driven by the ability to see connections, to spot opportunity and to take advantage of them”. However, it is creativity that gives that ability to conjure up the ideas and Cummings (1998) supports this. He very much describes creativity as the idea generating stage. Martins and Turblanche (2003) also supports this theory and offers a definition for the context of organisational creativity. They state that: “…creativity can be defined as the generation of new and useful/valuable ideas for products, services, processes and procedures...”…

Current research into gender differences in creativity is inconclusive. The majority of research into creativity stems from Guilford’s (1950) work. Although it, marginally, infers a relationship between gender and creativity, there is evidence to the contrary, such as Goldsmith and Matherly (1998) and Henderson (2003). Creativity is the ability to exhibit creative behaviour to a noteworthy degree (Guilford, 1950). Guildford identified several key principles of creativity (fluency and flexibility).…

Texts are deliberately crafted by composers in response to their contexts, either political, historical or cultural, composers develop their desire to construct their personal representation of the landscape to allow responders to perceive the nature in ways they do. The representation between landscape and poet is portrayed in, the romanticised poem, “Train Journey” by Judith Wright, the post colonisation poem, “Flame Tree in a Quarry” by Judith Wright and the outback painting of the effects of post European Colonisation, “Emus in a Landscape” by Russell Drysdale. Significance. This research study focuses primarily on the seemingly allusive concept of creativity. Creativity is often defined in terms of products. An idea can not be considered creative unless it shows an observable outcome, in other words, a practical creation (Plucker & Lim, 2001). These outcomes must be easily measured and consistently serve the same practical purpose (Plucker & Lim, 2001).…
