Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was the first major composer of the classical period. Music began in his life at an early age and his talent continued to grow and grow. Today, Mozart is well known for forty-one symphonies. Mozart’s life was pretty extraordinary, he was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1756 and came from a wealthy family of architects and bookbinders. Mozart and his sister, “Nannerl,” were the only two out of seven children to survive. His mother was born in a middle-class family and was engaged in native administrations. However, the new Archbishop did not admire or value Mozart’s brilliance. Their relationship was put on the line and no good; so, Mozart left his position and relocated in Vienna. At some unknown time while moving to Vienna, Joseph Haydn and Mozart met up and became friends and they played string quartets together. Mozart’s six quartets were dedicated to Haydn and were said to be in response to Haydn’s Opus Set 33. Haydn’s role model was Mozart. Haydn declared to Leopold, “Before God and as an honest man I tell you that your son is the greatest composer known to me either in person or by name: He has taste, and, furthermore, the most profound knowledge of composition.”(Biography of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). However, shortly after he was asking his father for his blessings. It was considered that Mozart was now in love and committed to her and his father was not happy. This created tension between Mozart and Leopold. While Mozart was creating an Opera, “Die Entfuhrung,” which was said to be inspired from his past conflict between his father and his marriage. His goal was to strengthen it’s drama and allow for better opportunities for music. It became a huge success! After many delays due to changes, it hit the Burgtheatre stage on July 16th. However, things began to get a bit rocky for Mozart. Because Mozart did not keep track of his finances, he spent the last years living in poverty, (which living in Vienna at this time was difficult in general for composers because of the war) in addition, he never gained a position at the court and unfortunately, public taste had altered and his teaching began to diminish. Mozart began to give up public performances depending strictly on loans from friends to support him and his family. He tried solving his financial problems by traveling to different places such as- Leipzig, Dresden, Berlin, Frankfurt, Mannheim, and other German cities. However, it wasn’t
