Wolf: A Fictional Narrative

“When am I going to go home again?” I thought out loud. “I’ve been in the forest for a long time and I want to go back to my barn at the other end of the forest, but I’m lost.”
Crack!
“Oh no, a wolf!” Wolves are all over the place. What am I, a squirrel?
Finally I found an abandoned den made of a bramble bush, and I went in.
“Oh, hello,” I mewed to a black kitten lying in the corner. “Where is your mother, little kit?”

“By the way, what is your mother’s name, and does she have blue-grey fur?” I asked.
“Her name is Jay, and yes, she does have blue-grey fur,” Shadow answered.
“I’ve meet her before at my barn, where I used to live,” I explained. “She was looking for a black kitten named Shadow, and that kitten is you.”
“Well, what can we eat?” Shadow asked.
“I’ll go hunting,” I answered.
“Shadow!” a voice called.
“Mother!” Shadow cried.
“Shadow? Is that you,” a she-cat with blue-grey fur asked.
“Yes, it’s me, Shadow,” Shadow mewed happily.
“Oh, my kit. Thank you for looking after him,” Jay said, looking at
