The People and the Situation As was first mentioned in my ministry group project proposal, the group I chose was my own small group. When the project first started, it consisted of roughly 10 men and women, most members of my Southern Baptist church who meet weekly to suss through the week’s sermon together. Interestingly enough, most of us had been raised in some semblance of a Christian home, though our experience within that “Christian” community varied.…

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

The relationship between local law enforcement and the youth population has been a troublesome issue in modern day policing. In 2014, after a death of a young boy Tamir Rice in a police shooting, it struck the idea to understand the issue within the city of Cleveland police department and their relationship with the young men and women to identify the key aspects as to why law enforcement typically have communication barriers to the children. A stigma that may be thought of certain parents not wanting their child to speak to police officers because they are not their role models and have the authority to get them in trouble for any reason that seems necessary. Some others may think that police officers are very corrupted that they do not follow the values of their mission to keep them safe. Youth…

The author, Eboo Patel, writes this book as an autobiography starting when he was a child, and continuing until he is about thirty, and has founded the Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC), biased in Chicago. Jesus Christ was the promise fulfilled and hope of salvation, by faith, for those who are lost. Harrelson stated in The New Interpreters Study Bible that, “Jesus’ life and ministry reveal God’s presence to the world, but also confronts the world with the difficult decision of whether or not to accept this revelation” (1906). God did not have to send his son to offer salvation to the world, he could’ve simply mandated it, or dramatically opened the heavens and given the call for salvation. Yet, God sent his son, so that we could see love demonstrated. Jesus demonstrates love, compassion, acceptance, and power through the miracles he performs while on earth.…

The Purpose, Plan, and Development of Missions. Why is so much time devoted to missions within the history of the Christian Church? From the days of Philip traveling to Samaria, to Augustin sailing for Britain, to Carey ministering in India the push for evangelism has dominated the Church and rightly so. The Christianity has grown to the largest religious group in the world since those 120 Spirit-filled believers at Pentecost. The driving principle behind this massive growth was not awesome music, fancy delivery, or beautiful buildings; but rather a desire to evangelize the lost by carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ.…
