I have not personally experienced discrimination or witnessed blatant discrimination due to race, age or sex. I have observed, however, in various group settings, individuals whom are not allowed to contribute and participate to any meaningful degree due their socioeconomic status. These people are often not considered for decision-making and leadership roles. When faced with such situations, I demonstrate acceptance of the individual by engaging with them in conversation. This allows me to better know them and gain a greater understanding of how they can contribute to the group. I speak positively about the person so others in the group can see their strengths.
