My first reaction to the narration wasn’t as shocking as I thought. It was horrifying to see the pictures and to also hear a detailed description with research behind it. History always has a way of telling a story and bringing up great discussion, especially when comes close to heart. Growing up, I’ve heard plenty of stories; but I have never actually encountered anything demeaning to my social perspective, self- esteem, or character. Throughout this paper I would like to reflect on the video and also how it plays a role in my current life.
The first question that I would like to reflect on is, “What thoughts went through your mind?” At the beginning of the paper I did mention that I was not shocked, but I honestly did not how to respond just for the simple fact that all I have ever been taught through out school in history class was slavery and …show more content…
I find myself more appreciative of all of sacrifices that have been made for me as I continue to live a very fortunate life. I am extremely anxious to learn more about black psychology and the history behind it. As far as the pictures and the narration about them I can only stay humble and remember that times have changed, but there are also other problems that have arose and we as African Americans have to deal with that we will always refer back to our roots. I don’t agree with everything that I have witnessed, but I also have to continue to stay on the right path by standing up for what I know is right as well as becoming more knowledgeable with the situations at hand. I take a lot of pride in my history as well as the next person I just wish that things will continue to get better and we as a nation can make more history instead of selfless acts off of the past.
