Without Children's International Essay

Decent Essays
Ever since I have moved to Little Rock, I've been enrolled in a humanitarian program that connects people who wish to share and help underprivileged children to kids who need support. The program is called Children's International. My mother wasn't able to always buy me books I wanted or the jacket I needed, but Children's International was able to provide those things. All I had to do was go take a few pictures and write a thank you letter to the sponsors that donate.
This program, while doing their charity quietly in the background, keeps a lot of kids happy, clothed and supported. Without Children's International, I can honestly say that the quality of my life will be lower than it is now. Children's International is the reason I understand the power of charity and giving back to the community. My experience with this program is the reason I believe I can give back by doing something similar. I'm not usually great with younger children, but babies and toddlers I can confidently say I love to be around. One volunteer opportunity I've heard of was to volunteer at the hospital to hold babies as a way to bond with them and make them feel better. I would love to

I would have no reason to learn manners or etiquette. I wouldn't have role models, mentors or influences on my life that have led me to where I am now. The community is the reason I think the way I do. I want to help others and make things better for them because I am from the community. I understand how things need to change or how things can be improved. If I grew up in a community, learned all the lessons there were to learn, listened to all the stories and was taught by the mentors who wanted to see me succeed and just left without returning to repay them, I'd be biting the hand that fed me. I want to be in a position where giving back to my community can be the easiest thing I can do. That's what I'm working

For the most part growing up in a middle class family and in a fairly small town like Saginaw makes it easy to think that everyone else is just as financially stable as your family. This can lead to the mind set that really low income families live in a different city, state, or even a different country. Sometime it takes the holidays to realize that families who have trouble to provide necessities for living live right in your community, and can't financially afford to provide a dream Christmas for their children which provides hope through their struggles. The importance of understanding this and then applying action is highly encouraged through programs such as The Salvation Army's angel tree of which I've taken a part of, and applied to…

About 15 years ago, I was employed as a Program Liaison and Group Leader for a wonderful non-profit organization in South Philadelphia. This organization focused on providing resources and supports to low income families within an inner city environment. The program operated weekly and was housed in a local elementary school. Usually, students enrolled in the school would utilize our resources services for after-school programming and their parents would request additional assistance such as furniture vouchers, food vouchers, and other social service related supports. While employed at the nonprofit organization I was instrumental in creating several programs that enhanced the scope of our organization, our demographics, and enrollment statistics.…

During my senior summer break I join my church on the mission trip to deliver textbooks to rural communities in Costa Rica. Months before our trip we had countless meetings to prepare us for what we would carry out while on our trip. One of the preparations was practicing teaching English to the kids using the reading materials we were supplying. In addition to the meetings we hosted fundraising events to pay for the materials we were delivering. One of our fundraising events was a pancake breakfast where the team members made and cleaned up after the breakfast.…

I am personally interested in this position for several reasons. First, I have noticed how this organization is making a difference in the everyday lives of people both locally and throughout the state of Tennessee. I have had the personal experience of growing up almost in the backyard of this organization with my family being a recipient of the food box program and for that reasons this program is dear to my heart. To see how this program has evolved over the years for a good cause, makes me want to be a part of this organization. As an adult, I am able to see and understand more than I did when I was a recipient and just to realize how it's changing lives makes me want to become a part of this great organization.…

Formal Essay: Children in History About 30 percent of the slaves in Medieval Florence, Padua, Venice, Sicily, and Naples were children. Children are very vulnerable to adults, the adults can impact the children as a positive and negative influence. The question remains today while constantly changing over time and locations, of “How do adults view the value of young people and how have they used that value to their advantage at different times and places in history either by greed or in times of necessity?” Children can be persuaded to work for free even if they don’t know it by threat, manipulation or necessity. At different times and places in history, adults have not valued the lives of children and have seen young people as resources, tools, and debt payments.…

Think of the big issue of inequality and that is precisely what describes Brazil. However, in the heart of São Paulo state, there is what is called the Brazilian California - Ribeirão Preto – the hometown of the best draft beer of the country, hosting three universities, being one of the most important medical research center of the nation. As it is said that we are the toys we played on our childhood, the books we have read, the parents who bought us up and the city we live in, that is me. Honored to come from such a great place in a family united by love and understanding in which I was taught moral and ethical values, sense of community and friendship. Something that my family and I do to pay it forward is host a hunting camp for the disabled. We as a family host this deer camp for disabled people ranging from ages anywhere from ten to fifty, some being veterans and some being young people. We do this every year on opening day of rifle season. As we are hosting this hunting camp, we are paying it forward to disabled people giving them an awesome hunting experience, home cooked meals, and a chance to make amazing memories. To extend our ability to pay it forward, we donate half of the meat from the deer they shoot to a local market for other people to benefit from, along with getting the deer mounted for our new hunting friend.…

It’s almost expected for someone to write an essay about wanting to go to Africa to help the suffering children and adults because it’s such a simple essay, but I truly mean it. Since I was young I have had the genuine passion for helping others and this odd interest in wanting to do so much, as to visit a third world country. Maybe it was my guilt over not doing anything for others when I was a child, or maybe it was the lack of continued practice of my religion where I would have been taught to give to others, but there was always such a want to help so much. When I was young I remember reading a kid’s magazine and inside was an article about a school who organized a trip to Africa for the kids to help there. I grew up doing charity, my elementary…
