Charles didn’t feel like he belonged there so his only choice was to leave. He thought his mother only loved his brother because he was the light skin one and the good looking one. Charles leaving his home at such a young age affects his lifestyle and who he is. His lifestyle changes because now he doesn't wake up with seeing his family.
