Wit The Movie Analysis

Growing up I watched my mom come home every day smiling and excited to tell me about all of the people she helped that day and to me that seemed like the best job in the world. I believe nurses have one of the hardest but most rewarding jobs because they care for anyone they can even in there last moments and even if that means letting there patient die with dignity and respect which must not be easy. WIT the movie is a powerful film for anyone in the health professions to watch because it teaches you how someone in the hospital setting feels as they are dying relying on the care of others. The story follows Vivian Bearing who is a no nonsense, tough professor who teaches English literature.

When I was a child and a lot of times during my adolescence I had several moments of indecision about the things that I wanted. From the simplest to the most complicated. A profession that gets misunderstood all the time is nursing. Nursing is more than giving shots and cleaning up after people. Watching people grow and get better or helping people as they take their last breath is the most rewarding thing I have done. I graduated from the nursing program at Rich Mountain Community College in 2015. Having gone through the nursing clinicals, I found that nurses play a big role in all departments of the hospital including surgery, rehab, and labor and delivery.…

Ethical practices in nursing play a huge role in the nursing profession today. Religions and different types of ethics have lead to many of those people to have different outlooks on how they are supposed to be treated in a life or death moment. Most experts say nurses should have a general understanding of the major faiths of the population they treat, but should not be as concerned with understanding the practices as they are with understanding how the patient uses practices. Nurses are faced with huge decisions daily and must always live up to the standard of the patients consent and must honor what the patients beliefs are even though they could lead to death of the patient. There are certain religions that say that they are not allowed…

I believe that nursing has developed from being a low wage, low respected and unskilled job to a legitimate, scientific profession. History has shown us that nurses have had to fight to get the respect they deserved from other medical professions and dispel the stereotype. Unfortunately, this fight continues to this day. History has also told us that the job of the nurse was to basically keep the patient clean, feed, bathe, and take the patient outside for some fresh air, no questions asked. To a degree, the actual cares for our patients has not changed, however now we DO ask questions.…

On Friday May 5th, 2017, we had the opportunity to have Professor Patricia Whitney, MA visit our class and talk about hospice. In my paper, I will include three distinct pieces of information and explained them. The first one was that if I want to pursue a career as a asocial worker in hospice, I need to have a Master’s Degree in social work. This does make sense because if I get a Master’s degree, that would mean that I would get the opportunity to get more information/education on dealing with people that are dying soon.…

In 1998, a nursing shortage began due to the confluence of several factors that were, at the time, unknown. The lack of nurses is becoming apparent and putting out negative effects for the world to see through the registered nurses habits in caring for these patients. Hospital administrators suggested higher wages and increased training for nurses; however, efforts to provide these did not end the shortage. The controversy here is higher wages cannot make up for being intensely overworked, causing severe exhaustion and job dissatisfaction…but some people are still trying to increase wages without reducing workload. Because many aspects of society are affected, the nursing shortage has become a concern among hospital administrators.…
