Throughout history man tries to obtain wisdom. Some, like Solomon, gained plenty of wisdom, and others only small chunks. In Chaim Potok's novel The Chosen, the characters he creates show wisdom. Reb Saunders's, Mr. Savo, and Rev Gershenson acts accordingly throughout the book, all demonstrating wisdom. When one acts wisely, they are passing on knowledge to someone else. In their own unique way, Reb Saunders, Tony Savo, and Rev Gershenson all show wisdom to others through bits of advice or demonstrations of ability .
Reb Sanders demonstrates a very simple way to seem wise. He talked very little, being methodical about only using words if absolutely needed. When he choses to make a comment, the vocabulary he uses helps the listener draw a conclusion about Reb. One Instance where the effects of this strategy appears is in chapter 13. “He is a great man, he just doesn't talk much.” On this occasion, Danny tells Reuven that he respects his father but doesn't talk much, Nor does he know much about his father.
