But first you need to make sure that you have a computer. You will also need an ISP. Your computer must have an operating system and a compatible browser. This is so that you can connect to the internet. You can connect to your router in different ways. You can connect wirelessly, this is where you get a signal from your router to your computer or you can get a CAT 5 (category 5), also known as Ethernet cable, from your router to your computer. A wired connection is better than a wireless connection because it is faster and provides a more reliable and stable connection.
When you first connect through your router, your IP address will be given to you from your internet service provider. It is dynamic which means that it is due to change

The protocol part http (hypertext transfer protocol), the server name www.amozan .co.uk and the file name web-server.htm. Now the browser must communicate with a domain name server (DNS) to translate the server name into an IP address. Computers use DNS as protocol which has a set of standards and it is used for exchanging data over the internet. It can also be known as the TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/internet protocol) protocol suite and it basically changes domain name (name of a website) information that we can understand into a way computers understand. This has to be done because computers do not work in letters, only in numbers, so what the computer reads will be something like 80.35.451.42. It is also how computers identify each other on networks. You must also remember that all websites are just different IP addresses. Every web page that you look at also involves packets (small files that can be sent over the internet fast). Inside each packet will be chunks of data that you need to view your requested web page. TCP/IP is what makes the chunks of data into packets then TCP/IP sends it. The TCP/IP also makes sure that you will get all the packets that are needed to gain full access to the web …show more content…
When paying someone to host your web site they can either let you pick your own domain name or you could be given one to you. If your are able to choose your domain name than the web hosting service will be a virtual web host, ones that give you subdomain name that will use their primary domain name are called non virtual web hosts. When using a non-virtual web host it will probably be free and will probably give you the simple tools to create your web pages, they also might give up to 10 MB of free space to store your web pages. These will be ok to use for personal web site but not for business web sites. On non-virtual site it is possible that will have to have advertisements on your site that you will not want. You address for the web site will not be easy to remember as well. Virtual web hosting is a much better option because it will give you a better management tools, support for you if you have problems with your site. Virtual web hosts will cost up to £20 a mount depending on where you go

TCP/IP Transmission control Protocol/Internet protocol used to connect host computers on internet. First internet ARPANET was developed when US Department of research projects agency (ARPA) in the end of 1970s needed a system to share the resources of their big mainframe systems. In start ARPANET used Network Control Protocol but in 1974 TCP protocol was introduced and all pervious protocols were replaced with TCP Protocol. TCP/IP was the leader in protocols used as a communication protocol on the internet. TCP/IP is still being used as a communication protocol in network operating systems (Abbate, 1994).…

The Internet was originally called the ARPANET, and in order to enhance the ARPANET to be enable may different types of computer networks to all communicate with each other, an open source protocol needed to be created, hence the development of TCP/IP. TCP/IP improved communications throughout the network and allowed all computers to easily communicate with one another. Another technology that helped expand the ARPANET to more users in a specific location was the development of the Ethernet. Ethernet is a coaxial cable that is still used today in many local area networks. Ethernet is highly effective in moving data from one computer to another at high speeds.…
