Winter's Bone is a movie about a girl named Ree trying to find her Father before her house gets taken. She then goes around asking known associates of her father about his disappearance and where he could possibly be. Some don't have any idea where he could be, but tell her about someone who might. So Ree goes on this hunt for her father looking for any leads, this leads her to a complicated place and some people tell her to leave it alone and stop asking questions. Some dark events transpire and it is revealed that her father has been dead all along, and she gets a large sum of money because of it. There are elements of this movie that go beyond just some story in the south, but how people in the Ozarks live and interact with each other. It is therefore important to look at this movie …show more content…
Cultural Relativism is the concept of recognizing that cultures are different. One realizing that there are differences, it becomes easier to look for and find them. The Movie Winter's Bone takes place in the Ozarks, a mountain range in the middle of the United States. The people that live there have less regard for the law, and often live on the fringes of it. Because of this, many live far away from certain amenities like super markets and shopping malls, so many of them hunt animals for sustenance and wear old clothes from a relative. These people have lived there for most of their lives, and their family has likely lived there for many generations, so these methods of how to food and who wears what has been passed down for decades, thus is that area's culture. Many people in that area participate in the drug trade, and for most of the usual reasons, make oneself feel happier.
