Ree's blessing occurs in the winter, both literally and symbolically. In “Winter’s Bone.” Cinéaste article, Jonathan states that
“Novelist Daniel Woodrell, from whose novel of the same name the film was adapted, has said that his title derives from a slang expression in the sense that winter "gives a bone" to his main character” (Jonathan 52). In other words, the winter is showing goodness to ree, by giving up her dead father. She was persistent to find her father and save her family.
