Winterball Experience Essay

Walking into the Winterball was an experience like no other. Hot cocoa and the smell of freshly baked cookies filled your nose as you entered the beautifully decorated staircase to the cafeteria. Students from freshman to seniors laughed and squealed loudly as they observed the holiday themed outfits of friends, old and new. From the most formal attire to the most casual ugly sweaters and comfy onesies, students confidently took pictures with others in the far right area of the cafeteria. A few tables and chairs were set next to the dance floor so those who danced too hard or just wanted to eat food and talk with friends could chill out under the snowflake decorated ceiling. A little into the dance, a conga line was formed, and most students

Playing sports has always been my passion, I love everything about it. But one thing has always stood in my way; my size. I’ve never been the tallest person in a crowd and most of the time I am one of the shortest people in the room. I never imagined that this could hold me back from something that I love so much and could possibly make my dreams of playing collegiate softball unreachable. I first began playing softball at only five years old.…

"One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn't do,"this quote by Henry Ford reconnects when it comes to facing something you're afraid of; our fears. When we get over fears, we realize only then that we had the courage before to do that something we were afraid of doing. One time I was afraid was when I started ice skating. I was at a party for my younger sister's friend at an ice ring.…

Sixty miles per hour is the speed at which the average softball player throws the ball; so I guess you could say I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I believe I was exactly where I was supposed to be. You know how some people say there was a certain moment that changed their life completely? Well, this was that moment for me, and it all was caused by a miscommunication. Miscommunications happen all of the time, but with a softball that isn't actually soft, and someone standing only 30 feet away from you; well you can already see the implications. At the time, I didn't see what was going to unfold, but I had a bad feeling about what was to come.…

Throughout my childhood, the passion for sports has been on full display. Many of my friends and family often call me a sports fanatic, as usually almost every day, I watch the latest Sports Center or replays of classic sporting events. However, during this time, I have come to appreciate a sport a lot more than I used to, and that is softball. Often during the summer, I can be seen in Webster, NY, watching my sister play softball for The Webster Xtreme Softball Organization. She has become a great player and has been ranked the number one player in the organization for the past couple of years.…

You may only be at a ball park to witness a no-hitter once in your entire life, if ever. But to be on the team that is throwing one, an even rarer accomplishment. The possibility of being the pitcher to actually throw the no-hitter itself, almost the rarest feat in all of baseball. Excitement, adrenaline, rushed through me every time I threw the ball to home plate, and knowing that I was one pitch close to keeping the opposing team hitless. While playing some may think you feel the pressure of the game; however in my experience I felt stress free, which left my mind to only think about what pitch to throw next.…

Baseball is the prefect sport for all season long. Getting dirty in the sand, making awesome plays, hitting home runs, and making your own team, that is cool. It does not matter where you are, as long you have a baseball bat, a glove, ball, time, effort, and leadership, and sport man ship. Does not matter if you are in the street, backyard, garage, or a football field. It also shows you a valuable lesson, even for me sharing.…
