Winter Concert Review Essay

Recently, in the past week of January 15th every singer at Gospel Chorus was getting ready in any way possible for the Winter Concert. My maestro has been enforcing us as a Chorus to do our best during our performance for the concert. But, to be in the concert all the youth have to come to every rehearsal in Church. Under those circumstances, I did attend the rehearsals for two days. This was such a wonderful experience in a way that you be more like a judge overlooking the audience. It occurred on Thursday during the date of January 14th.During our rehearsal we were practicing this song “Let there be peace”, and “Anthem of Praise, etc. At first when I was learning these songs I didn’t hit the right note. But, when my maestro made one of the youth members in …show more content…
Plus I had to help her fold all the clothes that were being cleaned.Futhermore; I still didn’t stop myself from going to this concert. I ate my dinner, and hurried up to Church. As you can see, as I left the New Kirk Plaza Train Station, I saw one of my Gospel Chorus fellows. Speaking of this, in my head I’m like “why is this student leaving to go home at this moment?” Automatically I asked him “is the Gospel Chorus still performing at this time?” He replied “it’s ten o’clock, the concert finished already”. I looked down at myself in disgrace like as if I was down in the dumps. In conclusion, during my return from my Church’s neighborhood, then back home again wasn’t as bad. I met more singers of Gospel Chorus coming from the Winter Concert going home. They all went to talk to me.Which made me feel better because, I was all dressed up nicely for a good occasion. And; I missed it because, of my mother’s laundry duty. Next time I will go straight to Church with my dressed clothes 3 hours before the concert. Just so that I wouldn’t meet up with my mother .In which, I know who would cause interference in my Church Concert series. But, I have seen the video of Gospel Chorus performing

TAYLA LIPKIEWICZ Lesson 1: We spent the first lesson learning the melody to the song “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” as it is song we, as an ensemble, decided to learn. As this song is very fast and upbeat we spent a fair bit of time trying to get the right speed and the right lyrics before we began to add in harmonies. I feel like as an ensemble we need to work on listening to the conductor and not talking when we are supposed to be singing. I feel as if I contributed very well and committed myself to learning the song.…

Every day, I try to listen to a new piece of music. Whether it be a string group, unaccompanied choir, or even a percussion consort, I believe that by doing this, so much can be learned from just listening. About the mid-month of July, I came across this piece of music. I thought it was extremely fun and quirky at the same time! I had continued to listen to it, read some background information on the piece, and do a small amount of study on the work.…

“You’re going to great,” said one of my closest friends from the praise team, Caroline. I could not believe her; I was too afraid to let down my praise team and congregation. I remember hearing everyone sing the opening hymns. I was even too scared to sing along because I had already…

Holiday Concert Evaluation After a long summer vacation and a few months that seemed to go by fast, but felt like a lifetime, Concert Band finally had its first formal winter concert. List three positive musical aspects about the concert: I have to admit, since playing in Concert Band for two years now, this winter concert felt different than the rest. (In a total good way.) Maybe it's because I’m an 8th grader this year, and I know the rest of the 8th graders in this class so that way we’re able to participate in all the inside jokes we have as a band.…

I was filled with joy. Not only had I performed well, but I realized that my fears of facing harsh judgement could be dealt with by the support of my friends and the respect for myself I acquired through that solo performance. Choir gave me the outlet to gain the self-confidence I needed. Friendship made the experience…

The minutes before the concert seemed to go by extremely fast and before I knew it, the concert was here. When it was time for my first and easiest solo, my heart beat was pounding in my head and I could feel the sweat dripping off my instrument's keys, but the warm smile from the conductor as my first note sang out put me at ease, and I played a good solo. The performance continued and soon it was time for the big, super exposed one that seemed to end the concert. I completely forgot about the audience and other distractions, and it was just me, my music, the conductor, and the rest of the band playing. Time seemed to slow down, and I put as much heart into the music as I could possibly manage.…

When the word “home” is defined in a dictionary you are given definitions like “the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered” or “any place of residence or refuge” but to me home means so much more. To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…

Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…

I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone.…
