As known through the story, Winston is shown, between the two, the more rebellious type. He is also shown as the more hateful type as he wants to take down “The Party” and commit rebellious behaviour, not for the sake of himself, but for the sake of the future of Oceania. He contains a diary which he jots down his own personal feelings in hopes of O’Brien reading it. This is shown in the book as rebellious behaviour and shows early on that Winston is rebellious in nature. As the story progresses, he escalates to wanting to have sexual intercourse again. After completing that with Julia, he continues to bigger plans, to a point that he wants and ends up joining the brotherhood. He then reads “The Book” which is supposedly written by Goldstein. As for Julia, her way of rebelling is by having hedonistic behaviour. She does buy illegal products, such as chocolate from the black market, but this also shows her own selfish reasons to rebel. She
