Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill was born on November 30, 1847 into an aristocratic family. He grew up in Dublin, Ireland and went to multiple schools after proving that he was a rebellious and independent minded individual. After this he was shipped off to a boarding school. Just a few weeks later he joined the Harrow Rifle Corps which was the start of his military career. Winston enjoyed a short but eventful military experience. He saw and participated in the front line at the Battle of Omdurman in 1898 and wrote military reports about it for the newspapers. Then he wrote a book on his experiences, The Story of the Malakand Field Force which he wrote in 1898. A year later he wrote another book called The River War. After the second book
