The Hmong Journey and The Odyssey In 1963, the CIA recruited the Hmong people in Laos to fight in the “Secret War” using guerilla tactics in order to halt the spread of communism. But this war would bring the Hmong people much suffering and hardships. In order to escape, the Hmong people would try to immigrate to America, but the many obstacles and hardships would block most of them. Based off of stereotypes, heroes are supposed to have ridiculous costumes and good looks, but in reality, heroes are supposed to be people that use the events around them, and their knowledge to complete their tasks. They are usually based off of appearances, and are not always viewed by the traits that make them fit into the title of a hero. The weakest relationship Odysseus has is of respect and infatuation with Circe, it starts with fear but lasts for 1 year. Then, Kalypso’s love towards Odysseus, a bit stronger than Circe’s is full of selfishness and desperation keeping it strong for 7 years. With Odysseus gone, Odysseus’’s once-loyal maid Melantho harms Odysseus and the suitors through her disloyalty.
