While growing up my father always over stressed the importance of my education. So throughout t all my years of schooling it was put first. Just like many other students, a bit of things were inaccessible to me because it required time to be taken from my education. During the school year doing well was always my main concern. So when it came down to it I had to make some tough choices. I did three things with in my schooling that made a positive impact on my education starting with moving in with my Dad, starting an early graduation program, and then getting my GED.
One of the many positive impacts I had on my education was moving in with my Dad. Winnsboro High School is one of the highest ranked High Schools in its school district, Wood County. During my junior year of high school my parents divorced. So it was up to me to make a very tough decision, Mom or Dad? The high school I had previously been attending was a great high school. My Dad on the other hand was moving to a new city in a different school district. This school district taught at a faster rate and had a higher rate of passing, along with higher state testing score. At my current school I had slowly began to slip into the drama so I decided Winnsboro High School was the fresh start that I needed. So I moved

Winnsboro High School offered a wonderful early graduation program. During high school at my previous high school I had been doubling up on my classes so that senior year would be a breeze. What I did not know is that all of it would play off when I got to Winnsboro. Since I had already finished all of the math and science credits required to graduate I was eligible to graduate a whole semester early. Graduating a semester early would allow me to get a semester head start on all of my college courses. This would allow me to finish my Associates Degree a semester earlier than my senior

I, Abigail H. Reed would like to graduate early due to the need to begin working more and hopefully begin attending college. If I was to be approved to graduate early switch my career from fast food to the nursing home so I could begin bringing in more income to support myself. I have began my search for a college to become a special education teacher, with this being said, I will apply for S.E.M.O in hopes of getting accepted. Graduating early will give me the opportunity to get a jumpstart on my dream career and allow me to maintain the need essentials for living on my own. Graduating early greatly helps me, in my situation, allowing me to have more time to focus on the building of my education, rather than repeating or beginning classes…

In freshman year I moved out of the school district with my mother, my brother, and my mother's boyfriend while my father moved into my old house. I was now left with two options: I could either continue to enroll in school at Massabesic High School or I could transfer to Kennebunk High School. See, my mother was just going to drive me to my existing bus stop every morning if I stayed at Massabesic but changing schools was starting to peak my interest. I started doing some research on both schools, making a compare and contrast chart while my knowledge grew. I looked at academics, statistics, student-to-teacher ratio and the whole nine-yards.…

Along my journey in school I remember all the sacrifices my parents did for me and my siblings. For example, my father Adolfo Garcia would work from Monday to Saturday from sun up to sun down in order to provide food on the table, clothing on our backs, and a roof over are heads. Although both of my parents encourage and motivate me to attend school and pursue higher education, I am also motivated by all the sacrifices they have made because I know that if it wasn’t for the support of my parents I would not be where I am…

My parents value education and they know that in other to have a better future, the first step is having an education. My mom would say that “working at McDonalds would not help pay the bills, put food on the table, and do everything that you want to. You have to go to school. You don’t want to live paycheck to paycheck for the rest of your life.” My parents’ values and beliefs help me choose the path that I’m on now.…

The factors that interrupted my education were caused by decisions that I made beginning in high school in upstate New York. I was a very good student. I used school as an escape from things that were happening at home. I was being molested by a family member and school became a place that I was safe. Homework was a time when I could be alone and focus on things other than what was happening in my life.…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

The word “immigrant” is often said with a negative connotation. This is a word I know all too well. I didn't know what an immigrant was until I was probably in the fourth grade when Mexican immigrants were all over the news. Illegal immigrants, the struggle for American citizenship, and the immigrants’ everlasting hope of achieving the American Dream was always part of the headline. I knew my parents weren’t from the United States, but they had adapted well to the country.…

I had to consider my dad who spoke to all sorts of people every day, especially the nasty and rude ones, so that he could market his company's detox machine and save money for my fees. Was my hair more important than that sacrifice? Was I about to throw the 6 years of the struggles of staying up late at night studying for Chemistry Continuous Assessments because of hair? I should give up the chance of gracefully walking up in my blue and yellow graduation robe to receive my diploma with everyone screaming and cheering because I made it out of secondary school? No…
