Winnie Guster found her daughter downstairs sniffing loudly. She didn't have to ask what was upsetting her little Joy since the small winged lifeless body on the floor told her everything she needed to know.
"Oh, honey" She wrapped a comforting arm around the girl's shoulder, which startled Joy at first but then she gave in to the hug.
"I'm sorry... I just... I didn't mean to..." She fumbled over the words awkwardly. "Gus is going to freak!"
Suddenly, Mrs. Guster became terribly wary how true the previous statement was. Her son loved Mrs. Mugglesworth and she couldn't imagine how heartbroken he will be to learn of his pet bird's early death.
"Where is he?" She asked.
Joy shrugged and answered noncommittally. "With Shawn, I think."
