They tell her the reason she cannot drink from the spring of water is because one day many years ago they drank from the spring and were never able to age as well as unable to die. They explain the different situations they should have died or gotten hurt and nothing happened to her. They know it had to be the spring because their cat was the only one to not drink from the spring. The cat got old and passed away. The Tucks have kept it a secret from the world because it could be very dangerous if people knew of the waters powers. They claim they must take her to their home and will return her home the following day. Winnie does not protest and they do not realize that the Yellow Suit Guy has heard the entire story and is following them to their destination. Tuck takes Winnie out for a boat ride after eating supper. Tuck takes the time to talk to Winnie about the seriousness of their condition. He explains they will live forever but they are not really living life and have been thrown off the natural process of life. Winnie is taken back to her home. Jesse comes later telling her they plan on getting Mae out of the jail cell and flee and unsure if they will get caught and if they are not caught they won’t be able to return for a long time. He gives Winnie a small bottle of water from the spring. Just in case she would like to drink the water later in life. She feels slightly responsible for Mae and wants to help. She says she can take Maes spot in the jail cell so no one realizes she is missing and they can get far away as possible. She will not be in much trouble since she is a child. They meet at midnight and break Mae out of jail and say their goodbyes. Winnie will miss them and she is scared. She ends up saving her toad friend and pouring the spring water on
