When I think of what makes Oregon different in the wine industry, my thoughts are of smaller family owned farms, artisan wines, Oregon’s reputation for being weird and independent, and views on organic farming and sustainability for future generations (Yates, 2016). When I want to partake in some wine tasting, I stay clear of the big wineries, for example, Ponzi in Sherwood, OR and set my sights for unique and smaller wineries, such as White Rose. Smaller wineries are great storytellers and create that good feeling experience when drinking their wines. I found an inspiring story about the winemaker at White Rose Estate, Jesus Guillén. Jesus was never professionally trained nor traveled the world working as an apprentice at great estates.
