The boat was loaded with Syrian families with their children. It started to drift in a very bad weather. The refugees called the Greek coast guards for help, but it was impossible to hear them clearly, because the children were screaming in terror.

The Greek coast guard sent a helicopter and rescue boats to try to locate the missing refugee boat, but they couldn’t locate it, it was dark and the weather was very bad.

The Winds on Lesbos was so strong that night. It shredded the Greek and European Union flags. Imagine what it would do to the refugees’ boat drifting without an engine in the middle of the sea.
