Wind Energy Vs Renewable Energy

What happens when the power is out and there are no more electrical devices available? It only takes a power outage to make people realize how much they depend on electricity. Currently, electricity is mainly produced by burning fossil fuels like petroleum. However, it has been widely debated whether fossil fuels were the best way to produce energy for consumers. It is arguable that alternative energy sources such as wind energy can produce better energy. Although burning petroleum is the main technique to produce energy, using wind turbines to produce energy is also favorable. Producing energy with wind turbines are more advantageous than burning petroleum because they are renewable, safe for the environment, and efficient. To produce energy from petroleum, it must be burned, which produces high amounts of carbon dioxide and toxic gases such as nitrogen oxides. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming and nitrogen oxides are gases that can damage people's lungs (How Does Oil). Windmills do not produce harmful substances. When generating electricity, windmills use generators that spin a magnet around wires with the wind to produce electricity. In the process of doing this, no harmful gases are produced.
