Wind Energy Vs Renewable Energy

What happens when the power is out and there are no more electrical devices available? It only takes a power outage to make people realize how much they depend on electricity. Currently, electricity is mainly produced by burning fossil fuels like petroleum. However, it has been widely debated whether fossil fuels were the best way to produce energy for consumers. It is arguable that alternative energy sources such as wind energy can produce better energy. Although burning petroleum is the main technique to produce energy, using wind turbines to produce energy is also favorable. Producing energy with wind turbines are more advantageous than burning petroleum because they are renewable, safe for the environment, and efficient. First, producing energy with wind turbines are more advantageous than burning petroleum because they are renewable. Petroleum is a limited resource that was formed from organic materials put under high pressure and hot temperatures over millions of years (Morse and Turgeon). In 2014, British Petroleum (BP), a multinational gas and oil company, estimated that there were there were about 1687.9 billion barrels of proven petroleum reserves …show more content…
To produce energy from petroleum, it must be burned, which produces high amounts of carbon dioxide and toxic gases such as nitrogen oxides. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming and nitrogen oxides are gases that can damage people's lungs (How Does Oil). Windmills do not produce harmful substances. When generating electricity, windmills use generators that spin a magnet around wires with the wind to produce electricity. In the process of doing this, no harmful gases are produced. Only electricity is produced and distributed through power lines (Layton). Wind turbines do not contribute to pollution and are therefore better to use than

Have you ever heard the terms “Renewable Energy” and “Non-Renewable Energy?” What is renewable vs non-renewable energy? What does it mean to the billions of humans all around the world? To start, renewable energy are resources that can be used multiple times, replenished quickly, and never runs out or dies (Salata, 2015). Some examples of renewable energy are solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and hydropower. Non-renewable energy are resources that are used once and that is all, fossil fuel such as…

Coal Energy vs Wind Energy The United States alone burns more than a billion tons of coal every year, making up more than half of the electricity used in the US from coal power. However, burning fossil fuels also causes 78 percent of the United States global warming emissions, 32 percent being from coal. In order to combat these pollutants and hopefully cut down prices different cleaner, and renewable energy alternatives are being used instead. One of these newer and effective forms of renewable…
