The debris hut is an extremely versatile wilderness survival shelter. It can be built in almost any habitat and does not require tools or special equipment. Creating an effective shelter is one of the most important priorities in a survival situation. Most lost people perish from hypothermia, which may have been easily avoided had they constructed a simple shelter. The leaves keep in your body heat so you don’t freeze to death. Also the debris hut can camouflage you from unwanted predators.
For your debris hut must be built in an ample location. A well built debris hut will be build by all the materials you seek to find, such as, leaves, sticks and maybe even some moss. Also, if you were in a serious situation, building your hut near water would be a nice place, so you wouldn't die of thirst. You do not want to build your hut in the middle of open spaces because there are no materials to use and no surrounds to blend into. For example, a dessert or open field of grass.

Next, sticks are placed as ribbing along both sides of the ridge pole. This is done after you have laid down and measured the interior. Sticks are placed to hold the debris up. More dry debris is also stuffed in the interior for comfortable bedding that lifts you off the cold gross. After stuffing leaves into the structure, stuff sticks in the top of your hut to stuff more leaves into. This will trap more body heat. Now, start piling on debris thick and high.
