Ginger, as a nurse, I am very familiar with Johnson & Johnson’s credo, as well as its advertising campaigns targeting nurses, doctors, and parents. The missions statement, or credo in the case of Johnson & Johnson, can help to guide a company’s culture and strategic plan. A mission statement that asserts positive values and caring for the consumer, such as the one you described, does appear to be helpful for many companies. Research into mission statements has revealed a correlation between mission statements and financial success of a company (Williams, 2008).
