Mankiller lived there till she was six years when her family was relocated to San Francisco ( Biography.com).From being just a little girl whose tribe wasn’t welcomed many places became one of the most famous leaders in the Cherokee Nation. Also will become the first woman to be chief. When Wilma moved back her parents immediately got her married in 1963 at age 17 to a man named Hector Hugo ( Wikipedia). She later had two daughters named Felicia and Gina ( Indian History). She was later divorced seven years later. Wilma had a hard due to her mother being white and her father who was Indian so her tribe wasn’t pleased by this. Wilma decided after all her efforts to make things right in society she ran for chief for the tribe, and won which was amazing, because she was the first female to ever be chief ( Cherokee History). After two years of service she retired, and was elected to be the tribe’s principal chief. In her tribe she was popular for being an amazing leader, and women (Wilma Mankiller Facts) . Due to illness she decided to relect in 1995, but was beaten. After she was done doing things in the government she became a school teacher at Partmouth College in New Hampshire. She got diagnosed with a type of kidney disease age fifty years old. She continued supporting her tribe by doing charities, and doing money donations if needed ( Indian History).
