1. Counting By 7's takes place in various settings. One of the many settings is Willow Chance's “single-story, stucco house in a development at the end of San Joaquin Valley” where both Willow and her parents (Roberta and James Chance) lived, up until the accident. After the accident Willow is taken to another important setting which is a Nail Salon called “Happy Polish Nails” where Pattie Nguyen works. The third setting takes place at a Garage, near “Happy Polish Nails”. This is where Pattie, Mai, and Quang-ha Nguyen lived and where Willow stayed for a short amount of time. After receiving a call from Child Services, for a home visitation Pattie, Mai, Quang-ha, and Willow move into Dell Duke's apartment (unit 28#) in “Gardens Of Glenwood” …show more content…

She is not like most kids her age and doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the kids in school. Dellwood Doufinakas (aka Dell Duke) is another main character from the story. He is a school guidance counselor at Sequoia Middle School and counsels Willow. Another main character from the story is Quang-ha Nguyen. Quang-ha is another person Dell Duke counsels and at first he doesn’t like Willow very much. Mai is also another main character. Mai is Quang-ha's younger sister. My favorite character is Mai. She is a really nice and caring person. I like her because she was very kind to Willow and helped her out when she was going through a rough time. She could have just stayed out of it and left when Willow's parents died but instead she stayed by Willow's side and convinced her mom to let Willow stay with them even though they weren't close friends.

4. Willow changes a lot through the course of the novel. After her parents death she stops counting by 7's and stops trying to think about medical stuff. Whenever she caught herself thinking about that she would stop herself and say that that's what the old Willow would do and shes not the old Willow anymore. As the time passed by she grew closer to the Nguyen family and Dell Duke. At the end of the novel she decides to count to 7's instead of counting by 7's. For each number she will have a person who matters the world to her, her mom, her dad, Mai, Dell, Quang-ha, Pattie, and

The episode “Hush” is one of the most critically acclaimed episodes in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. This episode from the fourth season of the series lacked an in-depth dialogue but rather used imagery and other literary elements for support. This lack of dialogue conveys a symbolic meaning throughout the episode through the interactions between the main characters. The interactions between Tara and Willow, Riley and Buffy, and Xander and Anya all have a symbolic meaning which supports the theme of the episode. The episode “Hush” symbolizes that, ironically, expressing feelings can be more readily done without forced communication.…

I loved Rachel Joyce’s The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy, as devastating heartbreaking as it was and while I haven’t read any of her other books something about The Music Shop tempted me into picking it up. And fortunately I was given an advance copy shortly after hearing about it at the Penguin Random House Fall Preview. Set in the 1980s, the book focuses on Frank the owner of a music shop who stubbornly refuses to get with the times and stock CDs (choosing instead to continue to own deal with vinyls). Among the cast of characters are his assistant and his fellow neighbours who own various shops/businesses along the same old backstreet that has seen better days.…
