The main character in my book is William H. Taft. He was the 27th president of the United States and the 10th chief justice of the United States. So far, he is the only person to hold both positions. He was born on September[CR1] 15th 1857 and died[CR2] on March 8th 1930. There wasn’t very much in this book about his childhood prior to his college education at Yale University. He was there from 1874 to 1878. At Yale University, William H. Taft was awarded a few honors. They were election class orator and the math prize. Out of a class of 132 students, he graduated 2nd and was elected to Yale University’s senior honor society, the same society that his dad was elected to.

His students were very excited to have a past president as their teacher. However his lectures were very boring. His students asked him to lecture on his time as president and dealing with national laws and congress. Finally in 1921, William H. Taft realized his life dream and was appointed chief justice of the supreme court. He followed the constitution as closely as possible. He made decisions on amount of work hours and minimum wages. He also helped establish the National Labor Relations Board. President Taft was very particular also. If lawyer was well prepared to present their case, he was very patient with them. President Taft passed away on February 3rd 1930. He was the first president to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
William H. Taft had accomplished so much in his lifetime. When he was governor of the Philippines, he showed compassion to the Filipinos. He treated them as equal and worked very hard to include them in their government. He also helped the people of Cuba become independent. While as a professor at Yale, he gave students first-hand information on the national laws and how they work in the presidency. As a chief justice, he helped make decisions that created laws that impact people to this day. President Taft shows that anything is possible with hard work. You do not have to be the smartest, strongest, most talented one to succeed. You just have to work hard, and any dream is
