Brabantio plants a seed of doubt about Desdemona in his mind. Brabantio says to Othello “Look for, Moor, if thou hast eyes tp see:/She has deceived her father, and may thee.”(1.3.291-292). It hard to keep a marriage together when the father-in-law does not give the blessing.

Othello says “Haply, for I am black,” (Act 3.3.303) He thinks because he is black she will not be faithful to him. Military offer his only opportunity to be an equal to other men in Venice Society. He is worried about the Duke and senators will think himself distracted by love when bring his wife to battle to Cyprus with him. Generals form a great bond with his soldiers that have been in battle with because they have to trust each other with their lives. He has more trust with his men than his own wife. He has the most trust “Honest Iago" then anyone else even more than his wife. . Othello reflects on what he has to do “Yet she must die, else she’ll betray more man” (5.2.6) He thinks is still in battle and that Desdemona is the enemy that needs to be defeated. Othello always feels like he in a battle that never ends. He thinks too much like a general at war, and not a loving husband at peace time. In the play Othello main inner struggle with his relationship with Desdemona, that he is an outsider in a mainly white population in Venice. Desdemona’s fatter thinks he should not have married Desdemona. That Desdemona should have married someone with the same status similar Roderigo.
