Shakespeare had his own way of referring to fate where he uses stars the metaphor of fate to give a better picture to the spectators. The main incident that indicates fate in this play is when Lord Capulet orders his servant to invite the entire guest he wrote it down on the sheet of paper to the party. Unfortunately, the servant was uneducated and he was unable to read the list. He then bumps into Romeo and Benvolio and asks them for help. Romeo reads the list for the servant where, Benvolio tells Romeo to sneak into the party, to see if his Rosaline matches up the other beauties attending. If this had never happened, Romeo and Juliet would have never seen each other and they would have never fallen in love. Fate plays another role into the lives of both the lovers, when Romeo got the banishment from Verona. If Romeo had never killed Tybalt and he was not banished the story would not have concluded in their death. Romeo and Juliet had a chance to live happily but could not as the Friar Laurence’s plan to cancel Juliet’s wedding with Paris went wrong. Laurance’s plan was going precisely until the letter sent by Friar Laurance did not reach Romeo before Abraham Montagues servant who told Romeo about Juliet’s death. Failure of Laurence’s plan played a significant role in deaths of the two lovers. Fate did play specific important roles into the incidents happened in the drama however, Romeo’s character had also …show more content…
Laurence was also an Advisor for Romeo however; his contribution in this play had led to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. This contribution was the plan to cancel Juliet’s wedding with Paris. Romeo who was not aware of Laurence’s plan thinks that Juliet is dead as Abraham said to Romeo, “Her body sleeps in capel’s monument.” This builds an unawareness between the two lovers, who took away their lives thinking that Juliet took away her life for Romeo, who drinks the poison for Juliet as to live with her in the afterlife. Tybalt who was to be the most hatred towards the Montagues and his actions towards the rivals in this play gets consequences for the two families. These causes included, Juliet’s love have to leave Verona and in the other hand Romeo losing his best friend Mercutio. Those actions took Tybalt to an unwanted conclusion of death from Romeo’s hands. Paris had also contributed to the events in the play that led to deaths of the two star-crossed lovers. Paris who wanted to marry Juliet from start had a lot in the mind however, when lord Capulet decided to marry Juliet with Paris, which than led to the Friar Laurance’s plan while Juliet did not wanted to marry Paris. If Paris had withdrawn from pledging his troth Juliet after knowing that she loves Romeo then she did not have to use Friar Laurence’s plan to cancel the

You can see fate since the start when Romeo is talking about his bad feeling about the “date” and something about hanging stars which are referring to suicide. Then with Juliet talking about her “Ill-divining soul” stating there will be something happening with the next time she will see Romeo and her stabbing herself with a knife just at the end. The last evidence found was about the friars giving the potion and the letter never got to Romeo and that caused the death of both of them. 1.) In the play Romeo and Juliet, the role of fate is stupendous, as it is implied in several of the situations throughout the play. It all begins with Romeo spotting Juliet, then falling head over heels at first sight, and due to the fact that their relationship was simply forbidden, it was bound to end one way or another in a black and white sort of manner. This is when things all begin to fall apart. Juliet's “death” is a fake, and Romeo discovers her, actually believing that she has truly passed away, and then he commits suicide.…

Fate, whether we control our own destinies or not, is one of the most debated about topics. The answer may not be known in real life, but in the world of the Capulets and Montagues, the verdict is clear. People are living already mapped-out lives and can’t change what happens to them, therefore being rendered powerless to alter their fates. Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet shows the lack of power humans have in the face of fate due to timing, and the inability to change their nature, and further make this evident through prophetic visions and references to it by the characters themselves.…

Fate is when something you cannot control, and free will is when you make the decision. Fate caused their deaths because Romeo and others were aware that fate was controlling them, time was not in their favor, and they had no control over the family feud. Romeo was aware that something had a greater force on him, and that something was written in the stars, which was fate. Romeo continued to say throughout the play that fate is…

The Friar advised that she should pretend to be dead, so she could sneak off with Romeo. If Old Capulet hadn’t forced Juliet to marry Paris so soon, none of these events would have occurred, and the deaths of Romeo and Juliet could have been prevented. As said in the prologue “Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.” This statement gives insight and cautions the audience about the ongoing feud between the Capulets and Montagues. Due to this feud the lovers had to keep their relationship a secret from their parents.…

My project is a game board titled “The Test of Fate.” It is modeled after the game “Sorry!” in same aspects, but it also has a bit of a twist. When playing this game, players divide into two teams, the Montagues and the Capulets: “Two households, both alike in dignity (in fair Verona, where we lay our scene), from ancient grudge break to new mutiny,” (Prologue.1-3.7).…

In William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ it was clear that the theme of love and fate was conquered throughout the play; which then determined the star-crossed lovers’ deaths. Actions shape and define who people are. This is seen in the play although, it is impossible to argue if fate and destiny are something tangible and visible to the eye. However, if it were to exist there would be nothing wrong in saying that it is one’s actions that will then determine fate. While Romeo and Juliet are responsible for their deaths because of their love for each other, fate does play a significant role as well.…
