One of William Shakespeare’s most renown plays, set in Verona, where two young star-crossed lovers; Romeo and Juliet met in tragedy as their family feud bound their love within solemn hatred. The Montagues and the Capulets are two families of equal powers who’s prolonged bitter quarrel leads to the tragic death of these two lovers, and by their love reconciled the family’s hatred. Love is a predominant theme within this novel portrayed through the eyes of Romeo and Juliet, as they overcome their family’s absurd quarrel to hope for a peaceful life together. According to the play, in Act III Scene V Romeo and Juliet woke up from a night spent together at the Capulet’s mansion, where Juliet gave Romeo her maidenhood. As evident from the scene, Juliet has not yet considered the consequences of the night, because not only if the parents found out, but chances that she will fall pregnant before marriage. During the late 14th century to the early 15th century, women were conservative subjects, who obeyed strict cultural rules and falling pregnant before marriage was considered to be a disgrace to herself and the family. However, Juliet had no concern over this, proving that she was thoughtless and immature to allow this without rationality. She convinces Romeo and stay with irrational reasoning, “Yon light is not daylight, I know it, I: It is some meteor that the sun exhales…” Yet Romeo agrees, “Let me be ta’em, let me be put to death; I am content, so thou wilt have it so.” As evident from these lines, Romeo and Juliet are overlooking the outcome of their families knowing about their relationship.
