Violence In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

The quote that I will analyzing comes from the Shakespeare play, Romeo & Juliet. Romeo & Juliet is a tragedy play that focuses on the love story of two young people. The two lovers are from different families that are at odd with each other. The young lovers decide that they don’t want to be apart from each other after talking to each other after a day. They get married with the help of a rogue Friar and a nurse. The part that my quote comes from the part right before they married. The quote that I will analyze comes from act two, scene six. Friar Lawrence tells Romeo “These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which, as they kiss, consume. The word violent in this quote could have two meanings. The first way is that violent can mean to use strong physical force which intended to kill or hurt someone. Their violent delights do have violent ends with the deaths at the end of the play. Romeo kills himself because he didn’t the message that Juliet was pretending to be dead. Lady Montague, Romeo’s mother, dies her son gets banished for killing Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin. Juliet kills herself after waking up and realizing that Romeo had killed himself. The meaning of violence that could be in this quote is strong. Romeo and Juliet’s for each other is strong. Friar Lawrence can see that with the fact that they want to get married so fast. They also are blind to everything else but each other. They try to do anything to stay together even killing themselves because they can’t be apart from each other.
