Love; selfless or selfish
Love being one of the most complicated and sought out feeling we aim for, happens to be quite selfless. Though we might act selfishly when we are in love or when we simply love someone; the actions we take to please our loved ones are pretty selfless. When it comes to love we’re mainly driven by the feelings of security, passion, and adventure. To begin, when we think of love, we think William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” Nat King Cole’s song “L-O-V-E,” and romantic Nicholas Sparks movies like “The Notebook,” “A Walk to Remember,” and “The Last Song.” What we fail to realize is that unlike movies real love isn’t based on pure perfection. Love is something that is so complex that some couldn’t even bear to fathom why it is we do the crazy things for those we love. For example, acknowledge Guy de Maupassant’s story “The Necklace,” the wife is so caught up with fitting into society’s high standards she neglects the fact that her husband is doing so many things to please her. Though he’s merely a flat character throughout the whole story you can tell that his passion runs deep with everything he sacrifices to satisfy his wife’s

Love is an adventure itself. When we fall in love we are taking a risk to believe in someone else for our happiness. We are allowing ourselves to open up to someone else and hope that they will be that stability in which we feel whole. “Love is heavy and light, bright and dark, hot and cold, sick and healthy, asleep and awake- its everything except what it is,” (Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet). This statement simply says that love is something that is its own negative with its positive. For instance, I have never been in love, but I have felt the feeling of loving someone. The ability to completely let myself bring down the walls and allow someone else to be my happiness. To be the real me and feel accepted without judgment. Though I took the risk without thinking of the consequence it was worth the
