Who Are To Blame For Romeo And Juliet Case Study

In Shakespeare 's Play Romeo and Juliet, the characters that were most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet were themselves. The two of them made the final decision to kill themselves and no one else forced them to do it. However, even though they were responsible for their untimely deaths, there were other factors involved, such as the families ' ongoing feud. This feud created a hostile environment for both Romeo and Juliet and it would have been difficult for them even if they wanted to just be friends. The first reason that Romeo and Juliet are responsible for their own deaths, is that they continued their relationship even though the both knew it was most likely doomed. The second reason that they are to blame, is that they decided to get married hastily without thinking about the consequences. The third reason, specific to Juliet, is that she went along with the Friar 's plan even though she had doubts about it. In Act I, Scene V, Juliet says to the Nurse, "My only love sprung from my only hate!" Romeo asks, "Is she a Capulet? O Dear account! my life is my foe 's debt." This shows that they were aware of how much the families disliked each other. In Act II, Scene II, Juliet tells Romeo, "If they do see you thee, they will murder thee." This shows that they knew how risky it was for them to be together. In the same scene Romeo says to Juliet, "My life were better ended by their hate, then death prorogued, wanting of they love." He is basically letting her know that if he can 't have her love then we would just as well be
