Brutus was someone that was well respected by everyone and was well educated. He was the second man in power; Caesar was first in power. Everyone adored him and thought of him almost as highly as Caesar; some did think Brutus was higher than Caesar though. His trusting personality and wisdom made him this way. Although he always knew he had to do something about Caesars surplus of power, he just didn’t know what. He had help from others on what to do about Caesar but ultimately decided himself. In this case it was joining the conspiracy to kill Caesar. Some people say Brutus was tricked into killing Caesar and others say that he wasn’t even a tragic hero. To be a tragic hero you must be someone who people love and you must cause you’re own decadence. Brutus was easily looked at as a hero. “This was the noblest Roman of them all” (Act 5.5 201) Even after he killed Caesar, Antony, Caesars best friend, said Brutus was still noble. Not even killing somebody can make people hate Brutus since he was loved by many. This was also because he was only of the only that only killed Caesar for the good of Rome. Everybody else in the conspiracy killed him for selfish and jealous reasons. Brutus caused his own downfall by his naïve personality. He was too trusting and didn’t see people as monsters even though they were. Whenever Brutus got the letter from the conspirators, Brutus was tricked by them and it made Brutus handle the Caesar situation in a different way then he would have handled it. Also Brutus allowed Antony to speak in Caesars honor which resulted in people having hatred towards the conspirators. Brutus trusted Antony to not make everyone hate him and his friends but Antony did. Those two things caused the war to occur which in the end backfired and caused Brutus to kill himself.
