“It’s been a month since the massacre at the castle, and I have yet to tell everyone my connection to the lost family.” Lucio whispered to himself. Fortinbras was going to the deemed King in less than a week, but what he didn’t know was that he wasn’t the next to the throne. Old King Hamlet had had a son three years before Hamlet was born. Lucio was kept a secret, this was to keep Gertrude sane and to make sure that Hamlet didn’t follow on his path of unfaithfulness when he grows up. King Hamlet had sent him away to Sweden with his mother soon after his birth. Lucio’s mother, Polonius, and the King were the only people to know about the child. But Polonius always made sure that the two were well taken care of, this was because he was still a son of royalty. Polonius would write extensive letters to the two every year, however, Lucio was never …show more content…
During this time Lucio had been staying in a small house outside of the castle, this was to make sure that he wasn’t seen by anyone. Lucio was strong and tall, and looked a lot like his father. He had the resemblance of Old Hamlet when he was Lucio’s age. But even though he looked like him at a young age no one was left alive who would be able to see the resemblance.
Lucio woke up the next day and headed to the castle, he referred to himself as a one man show and he was the highlighted player that was performing before Fortinbras’ crowning ceremony.
“This is where I take my stand, instead of starting the show I will call Fortinbras to the stage and we will fight.” he spoke to himself. “I will take back what is ours father, no doubt in my mind about that.” he finished.
He headed to the stage and called Fortinbras to him.
“Lord Fortinbras, the crown you are about to take does not belong to you!” he

The tragedy of Hamlet presents a series of interrelations between Claudius and Gertrude and Hamlet and Fortinbras, Hamlet and Claudius and Gertrude and Ophelia, and Old Hamlet and Hamlet, that delves into the nature of the human condition and the examination of Marxism in societal relationships. Although Shakespeare wrote Hamlet two and a half centuries before Karl Marx wrote his masterpiece, Das Kapital, he proceeded to scrutinize the bourgeoisie and their control over the means of production in society. The plot of the tragedy of Hamlet focuses in on the perpetual class conflicts over the means of production. Through a Marxist lens, the audience understands the inconsistencies and implications of the socialist revolution, its flaws, and the…

An heir to the Danish throne versus the heir to the Norwegian throne. Who is more suited to rule a country, conquer lands, and command subjects? We have Hamlet, a young man hell bent on avenging his father’s death and young Fortinbras, seemingly, chasing the same dream. One deems to stealthily eliminate his adversary while another marches forward unafraid. What distinguishes Fortinbras from Hamlet?…

Duke Roth Lancashire vaticinated strange things. In the premonition, he saw a black mass gowned in stars dissolving a man and turning him into something else. Something primitive and infantile, yet monstrous. Then he saw Elrich, an island, he owned and controlled, harboring creatures he'd never seen before; things so strange and ill-natured they evoked disgust within him. Abominations with the words—Magnus Teras—inscribed in their flesh.…

Throughout Hamlet, family ties have a tendency to cause a ruckus in the kingdom of Denmark as well as around the world. The relation between fathers and sons in Hamlet might prove to be the most disastrous of these family ties. The three prominent father-son duos in this story are Polonius-Laertes, Fortinbras-old Fortinbras, and Hamlet-old Hamlet. As all characters do, these pairings all had some similar features as well as other stark differences in character. One such similarity was that all of these sons were commanded, either directly by their fathers or indirectly by assumptions about what their fathers would have wanted, to avenge their fathers’ deaths.…

In his play “Hamlet”, William Shakespeare allegorizes the idea of how the desire for power can so easily corrupt even the most secure relationships, such as the one between brothers. Colonius’ pursuit of power is ultimately what incentivizes his decision to betray and murder his brother, the former king. I find Colonius’ character to easily be the most compelling and complex one we have encountered so far in the play. Though I do find his actions deplorable, I must admit I admire his tenacity and ability to accomplish the goals he sets for himself. I also believe him to be one of the more intelligent characters in the play.…

Macbeth: Astray From Morality The deepest principle in human nature is the unintentional desire to dominate each other. William Shakespeare 's play, Macbeth, illustrates the transformation of one 's morals when introduced to the opportunity for power. This is evident through the characterization of the protagonist, Macbeth, who drastically undergoes a significant change because of the potential of evil he possesses. Equally important is the everlasting relationship Macbeth had with the witches which built the foundation of Macbeth 's immorality.…

Fortinbras understands his father’s flaw, and by avoiding his mistake, his is able to be more successful than his father. The word “craves” suggests Fortinbras’s selfish desire. He wants to get this land for himself, not for his father or anyone else. Unlike Hamlet, Fortinbras realizes his dead father was not perfect, so he is able to forgo his father’s destructive habit of rivalry and create his own personal values based on diplomacy and leadership. Eventually, Fortinbras takes the kingdom of Denmark, which Hamlet was the heir to.…

For one, Fortinbras’ uncle did not marry Fortinbras’ newly widowed mother, which was a horrible experience for Hamlet and only spurred on Hamlets need for revenge further. This also shows evidence of how corrupt the kingdom of Denmark was when it is compared to the kingdom of Norway, especially since Old Hamlet died by the hand of his own brother. In a way, Fortinbras is representative of what Hamlet could’ve been if it had not been for his familial problems. Fortinbras is simply seeking to avenge his father, while Hamlet must redeem his father from Purgatory. Fortinbras’ readiness to action highlights Hamlet’s impotence…

The characterizing difference between Hamlet and Fortinbras is his approach in dealing with the trauma as he redirects his anger from achieving self-gain alone; to achieving both self and national gain due to his character of leadership, ambition, and being unequivocal. Firstly, Fortinbras is a natural leader compared to Hamlet because he is able to unite a group of countrymen from the outskirts of Norway to conquer the lost territories of Norway. (Hamlet) This is observable by the effect on the national security of Denmark that this leadership of Fortinbras has when Marcellus…

Fortinbras builds an army to take back the territories they lost while also attacking Denmark, making him a problem for Denmark. “...Now, sir, young Fortinbras, of unimproved mettle hot and full, hath in the skirts of Norway here and there sharked up a list of lawless resolutes, for food and diet, to some enterprise that hath a stomach in't; which is no other as it doth well appear unto our state but to recover of us, by strong hand and terms compulsatory, those foresaid lands so by his father lost; and this, I take it, is the main motive of our preparations...” (I.1.95) This particular quote helps us perceive how fast Fortinbras acts towards avenging his father.…

So far, Hamlet has kept his emotions inside because his mother has failed to take the time to discover the true cause of his sadness. “Good Hamlet, cast thy nighted color off, and let thine eye look like a friend on Denmark” (1.2.69-70) Gertrude encourages Hamlet to be friendly and let go of his dreary mood, not realizing that his sadness could be a powerful depression. “O most wicked speed, to post with such dexterity to incestuous sheets! It is not nor it cannot come to good, but break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue”…
